A FEW EXAMPLES OF VER STEEG BLADES

VER STEEG BOWIE
The first run of production knives was an update to the World War 2 classic - The Marine Raider Bowie. A run of 15 knives was made. Each knife featured full tang construction, an ergonomic handle, an integral forged guard and a handmade ambidextrous leather sheath made by Dwayne Kieth Puckett. The steel used was 52100 with a heat treat designed by Tim Zowada, executed using salt tanks by Randy Buckmaster. You can watch a video which explains a little more about the knife.

imp

THE IMP
The Imp concept was to have a useful fixed blade in an extremely small package resulting in a 2.5 inch blade with a 2 inch handle. The steel was O1 tool steel with a heat treat done by T.M. Hunt. The Imp fits comfortably in the front or back pocket or on a ball chain around the neck. Weighing in at just 1.5 ounces including the lanyard and sheath, the Imp sets the bar for usefulness in a small, lightweight package. You can read a review here or click on the photo to watch a video overview of the features.

THE PARANG
After attending several survival courses in the Amazon Jungle and then joining the Amazon 5000 Expedition, it quickly became apparent that there is a better tool for shelter building than the $5 machete purchased in country. Much research and experimentation led to the production of the Ver Steeg Blades Parang. These are scheduled for release very soon. The blades are done. Handles need to be made. Why not watch the video of one being made?

THE SLIM HUNTER
The Slim Hunter was a run of 5 knives designed to be a good knife for cleaning and skinning large game in North America. The Slim Hunter featured jigged bone handles and a handmade leather sheath made by Dwayne Keith Puckett. The steel was O1 tool steel heat treated by T.M. Hunt. All five knives sold immediately. Two are in the hands of professional hunters.

THE EXPEDITION KNIFE
The Expedition Knife was a collaboration with Dr. Ver Steeg's friend Mickey Grosman. The two spent a lot of time together on the Amazon 5000 Expedition. This is another knife that needs to be finished. The blades are all done and heat treated, but handles need to be made. You can watch a rather lengthy (LOL) video explaining the features.  These will be the knives for an upcoming expedition with Mickey and Dr. Ver Steeg.

grendel

THE GRENDEL
Born in fire, the Grendel is the Imp's big brother. Unlike the Imp, the Grendel is forged and features a forged guard. Grendel, the monster in Beowulf, was supposedly very odd looking and outrageously powerful. The Grendel knife might be odd looking but don't let looks deceive you. Every Grendel owner (so far) has very quickly grown to love this little beast. These are offered on an ongoing custom basis. Pricing depends on the options you choose. You can watch a video to learn a little about The Imp and The Grendel by clicking on the image.

CUSTOM KNIVES
The majority of knives made by Ver Steeg Blades are custom knives made for individuals who need a knife for a specific task. The knife in the video was made by Dr. Ver Steeg as a personal knife, but was eventually purchased by a gentleman who wanted it very badly. If Dr. Ver Steeg can take a lawnmower blade and turn it into a beautiful knife complete with a hamon line, imagine the possibilities. These knives can be as involved or as simple as you like. Just ask.
